New driveway.

As you can see, the drive is made from mud, gravel, tarmac and weeds so I get stuck in with pick and shovel and take it down about six inches.

The hired whacker plate compacts the base until it's rock hard.

Next comes a shutter made from sarking and stakes.

The Spotmix 07957450240 team arrive, and an hour or so later the concrete is poured, screeded and tamped. I went back the next day and removed the shuttering, laid a 20 year membrane at the sides and filled it with Balmullo chips.

Exterior Painting.

Les and Fiona recently purchased this nice bungalow.

I've already done some fence work and painting, felled a few trees, tidied up the garden front and back, and they asked me to give the exterior of the house some tlc.

 Not quite finished yet I still have half of the back and one side to do.
I think it looks spanking gorgeous don't you?

Sue and All's annexe.

This job was way up the Angus glens. It's a holiday cottage with an extra bedroom lean-to on the west side of the building.

It was in a bit of a state with woodworm, dry and wet rot. Not much to do other than knock it down and start again.

That's the outside more or less finished but I'll be going back to level the floor, insulate and do the interior walls with pine tongue and groove. Good potential here for a sauna...

Margarets front garden.

Margaret had a fellow landscape her front garden last year. This is what it looked like after a year.
It was a pond every time it rained.

 

The way that the drain on the right has been left its a dangerous trip hazard. It's also covered with thick membrane so not really a drain at all at the moment.

At this point I've lifted back the gravel and find yet another drain covered over with membrane.

It's all back together. I've added 3 tonnes of ballast to level, new membrane, sorted the drainage and washed and replaced the chips. The jobs a guid ane and I doubt that Margaret will miss the pond ;)
Although the guy made a complete arse of this job, he made a smashing job of the monoblocs.

 

George and Jackies fence.

Just a basic ranch style fence here to separate their garden from the property next door.

It's aprox 25 mtrs long with 12 posts into concrete. All timber is pressure treated then coated with Ronseal Ducksback before assembly. It's all screwed together, no nails here...

Felling a tree.

This was a larch of about 80 feet high. It was in the corner of a field

and leaning dangerously. If it had came dowm in a wind it could

have hit livestock or destroyed the fence allowing them to escape

so it had to go.    Felled.

 Snedded.

 Sliced and diced.

Nobody likes to fell a healthy tree but sometimes needs must..

Allan's deck.

Allan wanted to do something with this chunk of waste ground in his otherwise very well cared for garden. We had a look at it and decided on a decking area measuring 5mtrs x 3mtrs.

 

 

 First off we build the main chassis on the lawn.

 We then carry it over to the area where it's going and mark off the holes.

 Holes are dug and we set about getting the frame level.

 It's now concreted in and ready for the decking boards.

 He's going for three 1mtr fences made from the same decking boards.

 Nice tidy handrail at the front with a 1200mm opening, steps to be added later.

 Handrail and spindles going together nicely.

 Starting to look like a deck now.

 Just an end to go on now.

 Well chuffed.

 Allan has all sorts of plans for his big deck including rocking chair, table etc so I'll do a follow up in the next few weeks.
